I run an XP sp2 system, ASUS mboard w integrated SoundMax. I use an inexpensive Sony headset, no speakers. I have limited hearing in my right ear, little remaining in my left. I have the use of a behind-the-ear hearing aid with a "T" position.
I find that I can make the SoundMax "Test" sounds unpleasantly loud in my right ear, but often I can't make out what's being said on screen, either video or movies. (Music doesn't matter) I'd like to spend some money on raising my spoken language comprehension on the internet, but I know nothing of audio systems. Do I go in the direction of better headphones, a separate soundboard or more elaborate peripherals? If the latter, what would I ask for? I don't want to waste money, and without sound:) advice, I'm afraid I'm bound to.
