Hey all, basically what I'm trying to accomplish is to have my speaker system connected to a crappy old PC of mine that is always on that I use for server apps and storage. Is there any 'audio server' software (not sure what to call it) out there that would allow me to send audio from multiple PCs over the network to this server and have it play through the speakers?
I can't seem to find anything, but I'm pretty sure I just don't know what to search for.
Thanks!

What you need, AFAIK, is some audio streaming soft and hardware.
I looked at this some time ago and it all seemed a bit expensive! However.
This works for me and costs nothing if you have a network* setup.
Download Audacity (any audio software will do tho') find the drive that has the song you want on it on the network and play it!
I have a 400G usb Maxtor drive and I find I can play .wavs straight out of that on a remote pc, that might not work for all drive/pc/ network combos however but you can just load the music into the pc, then play it.
*This assumes a "proper" hardwired network (I have CAT5E wired by my own fairs!). Wireless and mains borne unmentionables might not work.
Dave.
