it is not really new anymore...
the new thing is dual channel DDR, which can be found in chipsets intelE7205 and SiS655. iE7205 in the Asus P4G8X is about to hit the streets and SiS 655's Asus P4SDX will follow within weeks. the advantages of dual channel DDR are the memory bandwith that rivals that of RDRAM.
the P4PE has been prooven to be a very stable mobo though and most audio cards work fine with Intel chipsets. m-audio for one, works fine with Intel. to be sure contact the manufacturer.
the problem with the dual channel DDR chipsets is that they might have bugs that people will find out about later (the iE7205 has an AGP8x bug which has been discovered already). P4PE has been around longer, so much less potential for bugs.

i am also leaning towards the P4PE at the moment, but that is also because the P4G8X is taking so long........
