Hey guys, my first post here.

I just received my M Audio Delta 1010LT and I installed it without any problems. I could not however play anything through Windows XP. I only heard sound when I opened it through FL Studio. I want to make it my primary sound card on my pc for windows, but when I tried to configure this, I got no sound.

Can I make it my primary sound card for Windows Xp?

I have the Delta 1010 and use it as my primary sound card. You have 2 drivers, 1 for recording and one for windows. Go to windows 'sound devices' and make sure the Delta 1010 is selected and that all the volume levels are up. Let me know if this works.

It just isnt working. I've tried everything I can by myself. I am still getting used to the sound card and am not very good with diagnosing the problem.

Maybe you can help me troubleshoot or diagnose the problem?

Try going to the M audio driver=output, if its set to monitor, try changing it to waveout, and make sure the fader on rtn1/2 is up.

Where is rtn1/2? Could you send me a screenshot if possible?

Youtube works and so does Itunes. So I guess my question is: How do i get windows media player to play through the sound card?

I thought my problem was with windows.

I also have another question.
Why does it tell me that something is coming out of wav3/4 when nothing is plugged into it?

In the M audio driver on the mixer, scroll to the left and you will see the rtn's (returns) make sure the fader for that is turned up.

Did you look in windows sound devices, to see if 1010lt is selected? also make sure the faders are up here as well, its here that determines wmp is played through the sound card. As for your last question leave it with me.

First of all i did scroll all the way left AND right but I have no RTNs or returns.
Why is this? And what do they do?

Also, I found out why windows media player did not play through the soundcard. I fixed the problem by disabling my NVIDEA sound card completely.

Windows media player plays through the card now.

What did you say about my last question? Because I am still having that problem (if it is a problem)

Ok , I have a later driver version than you, so it may be different. It would appear that a panned signal is some how entering channel 4. You don't neccesarily have to have something plugged in. Have a look in the patchbay/router and see if any boxes are ticked.

What do you mean ticked? wavout3/4 is checked thats it

The little radial buttons with the black spot, uncheck it. Something must be routed to channel 4. Sorry for the confusion.

Ok I know what you are talking about but I don't have the option of unchecking them. Something has to be kept checked.

I have Delta 1010 LT, and this is my set up

1. Speakers connected to Outs 1 & 2 (L,R)
2. Delta Control Panel -> Patchbay Router -> H/W Out 1/2 should be set to Monitor Mixer
3. Delta Control Panel -> Unmute WaveOut 1/2, Give full volume. Master Volume should also be unmuted and with proper volume level.

This setup should work fine. Now you can control speaker volume by adjusting master volume in monitor mixer.

Why does it tell me that something is coming out of wav3/4 when nothing is plugged into it?

It means some app is outputting its sound on Wav 3/4. Try muting 1/2 and listen to what's coming out in 4. Check the running apps.

If you haven't set Outs 1/2 to Monitor mixer (Patchbay/router page), you won't be able to hear that. It could be your windows media player in question.

I would suggest a fresh start!

Pull the 1010lt and unistall all to do with it.

Go to Device Manager and disable On Board Sound.

Put the 1010 back in and setup. If you select Monitor Mixer* in any application it should play thru'. Also selecting Mon Mix as an input means anything you hear gets recorded.

Although you CAN control monitor level with the Delta software it is very bad practice and you should have an external, mechanical volume control.

*If you have live mics you might get feedback but we will worry about that if'tappen!
