I am having a problem after moving my computer to another place in the room. The left speaker plays but not the right. If you dont plug it in all the way it plays both speakers. Something is wrong but I dont know what. I have tried plugging 2 sets of speakers into both the computer and into the output on the back of the m-audio firewire 410. Both with the same result. Only one speaker playing. The speakers work fine using the computer soundcard. It was working fine up until I moved the computer and had to disconnect some wires. I believe it is a setting on the control panel but I am not sure which one. I have even reinstalled a few times. Any information would be greatly apreciated.

You are using a wrong cable or adapter.

hi!
welcome to audioforums.com!
Tim may still be partially correct if you are using the same cables.
while it may not be the wrong adapter, it may be possible that a cable you have has shorted during the move. making it seem like you are using the wrong cable or adapter. (like a balanced cable for a stereo connection)

i would suggest that the issue may be due to:
the material you are playing back is only recorded on one channel (the left)
the cable you are using is faulty
the interface is faulty
there is a setting in the computer that is set wrong,
the speaker is not working,
there is no power (for active speakers)
is one turned off or not plugged in?

double check all of your connections
play from a source that has both channels like a CD of R.E.M. or the Cure or Pink Floyd or something known.

hook up the right confirm that it works
use the same cable to hook up the left confirm that it works
(bad cable)

if not then it may be the speaker, so hook up the working speaker to the other side, do the same to the other side.

check all connections with working equipment.

check all your settings.
if all else fails and you are sure it is not anything you can correct, and you are sure that the speakers all work, then it may be the interface.

call support
cheers!

First Off Sound Card You Are Using Or Interface??? Next When You Moved It Did You In Any Way Pull On The Wires This May Have Cased A Brake In The Wire Or The Jack On The Bord As If You Had A Walkman And After A Time The Jack Only Plays In One Headphone.. The Gear Guy. Just A Thought.. The Gear Guy
