Hello all and thanks for reading my thread and any advise you might have in advance!!
So I helped a friend purchase a laptop (HP Pavilion dv7-1232nr Entertainment Notebook PC, to be exact) and her main goal was to use it to record keyboard with FL, and explore more synth programs that can record MIDI strokes similar to FL, and have plenty of room to store mp3s and videos and blah blah blah. So I was really sold on the 4gb ram and 320gb HD.
I hooked up my EMU X-Board 49 from my desktop (which works great with FL at 18ms using my asus mobo's internal sound drivers) and it kinda sounds like crap on the laptop, and I can only get it to run at 49ms but it still underrunns a lot. The Sound driver is the IDT HD.
So my questions are,
-Is there a way to use a differnt driver to make it work?? (which would be ideal)
-Would the ASIO drivers be better? (I can't get them to work either)
-exploring other options I read about the break out box style USB and FireWire inputs, would these act as a processor and replace the crummy onboard audio??.... And what would be a cheap good one that can process audio??
-OR would it just be better to just take back the laptop and get a cheaper one but buy a good recording "break out box"??
