I've ready it's specs and even a read a test article, and they saay that it's cleaner and better than the Audigy & SB-Live!
Can anyone speak to this?
Or is it just a case of same ****e, differant pile???
I would like to use it for it's 5.1 capabilites for my home theator system.
And I just want to know if it's an improvement over the old noise LIVE units. I'm being told it's even an improvement over the Audigy2 with 24\96 input & Out.
I've not heard it myself but know people who have and say it's got a very good frequency response range and that the sound is excellent. I use a Live! 5.1 in my home set up & I'm more than happy with that.

Same ****e, differant pile mate!
I have an Extigy - wanna buy it??? I got suckered in with all of Creative's bull**** and phony specs and I now find myself in the market again...
All the same it depends what you are trying to acchieve. I want to run a heap of studio quality wave files, with a heap of virtural instruments with a heap of effects, while recording audio and midi in realtime, with Logic Gold 5.
But hey if your just looking for a sound card with 5.1 it'll do the trick - and hey it looks pretty sexy, with that remote and all... but if you in any take your music seriously steer clear of creative altogether.
With the Extigy, no one can get it to do 24 bit recording, I feel there is too much input noise and too much latency.
It has been described as a swiss army knife - it does a bit of everything, but it doesn't do any of them very well.
USB audio sucks. However at the moment I'm looking at Edirol UA-5 as a replacement.

Thanks for the replies!
Actually, since I've asked this question, I've changed my direction some what.
At the moment I'm interested in using a Optical(Adat\TosLink)PCI interface for my way "IN"(input) for recording, and after reding a comparison between the new Audigy2 & Extigy, I am now going the Audigy2 route strickly for playback and general PC\Gaming\Home theater use using it's digital out in 5.1.
Now my question has changed.
Since both the Extigy & Audigy2 has TosLink Optical. How well(clean) do they work?
Would they do the job temporarily until I can find my prefered Adat\TosLink 3in\3out PCI card???
AND?!?!!??
Can anyone recommend such a PCI optical interface that won't break the bank and is capable of pro quality recording???
P.S.>>>
I'll be posting this question separately!

Sorry, mate... but Creative cards are gaming cards.
You're just fooling yourself. You can buy a really good 24/96 card for the same or less than a Creative gamer card.

I've got the audigy2 platinum ex and it works great for everything I do:
Recording guitar with low latency monitoring thru amplitube/warp, 5.1 mixing and editing for film projects, recording 6 channels at a time at 24/96 (although I usually stay at 24/48 for clients to save space)and everything else I have tried has worked, one thing though is to make sure you don't install all the crap that comes with the card
(creative media source=****e)and only the essentials.
