Hi Rumski

I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you; I've posted exactly the same question on here before and no one seemed to know! So, just to second Rumski's question, this on the surface seems like a very good card, well priced...anyone know anything about it?

Thanks
Ben

June 2002 Computer Music Magazine gave
it a 9 of 10.

If I had not bought the Waveterminal
192X I may have bought this.

Thanks Kalamata. I'm always a little sceptical of audio magazine reviews though; would still like to hear if anyone has some real world experience with this card!

Thanks
Ben

I found very interesting review of this card at tom's hardware web site compared with SB Audigy. Terratec DMX 6fire 24/96 is the better one according to that article. But, they sad something about extra hardware in order to take full advantage of DMX.... Does anyone know what is "extra hardware"?
And for Ben & Kalamata Kid::::: thanx a lot. You know what is the pain when one's decide to buy soundcard.........

About the question : 'extra hardware in order to take full advantage of DMX'.
They mean that the Terratec for MIDI don't have the GM/GS sounds on the card.
For those people who have a synthesizer without GM/GS sounds, they cannot produce any (built in) sounds with the Terratec.
I personally have the Terratec DMX and i must say, it has very good result with recording.

Thanks pvos - we've finally found someone who's got this card! Can you tell us a little more about your experience with it - any compatibility problems, are the drivers stable, who OS are you running, what audio software are you running, does it install without problems...?

I know, lots of questions; thanks in advance.

Hi Ben & Rumski

I'm sorry for my late reaction, but i hope that i can answer your questions:
My experience are very good, but i'm not a very professional user.
I had this card for 2 months now.
The drivers are very stable, I download and use the latest drivers, version 1.26..... no problems.(but use the latest drivers and latest software from terratec together.)
I had tried this card under XP and 2000.
And the software I use is Cubase VST 5.1R1
Under XP the card works well but Cubase give me some troubles, but I think that the problem was XP with my older Cubase version (Cubase crashes sometimes !!)
Under 2000 the cards works perfect and i had no problems with cubase.
Everything was detected without any problems, so i can say that i had no installing problems and the latancy was very low, I hear no latency... but as i say earlier... i'm not a top professional.
I use a AMD 1500+ with 512 DDR RAM.
I use this card to record my synthesizer and drumcomputer(MIDI)and electric guitar.
I'm very pleased with this card and i had the feeling that the quality from my recordings ary very good.

I'll hope that i help you enough.

Hey hey!

You might have seen my other posting, regarding this card and my problem with noise interference.

I've had the card for a couple months now and it is VERY versatile for piece of hardware and works great on XP. (Yes, get the latest drivers.)

In my personal experience with simple recording, I've encountered a bit of a computer noise problem that I'm still working on and is giving me a headache. I record one track at a time, using Cool Edit Pro...no biggie. If I could change sound cards I would get one that is truly external, and not mounted in the front.

My friend has the M Audio Omni Studio and his recordings sound great. We have similar computer systems.

If I get it worked out, I'll post the problem/solution. I'm confident that It can sound good, cause everyone else in here says theirs sounds clean!

Hope this info is helpful!

I just can't hear a thing when audio playback, and i can't record audio either. I have a dmx 6fire and using sonar 2 xl. is it a configuration problem in sonar ? However, if i change the settings to MME drivers, audio works perfectly.

Have you got any idea what i can do?????

please heeeeeeeeelp.

thankyou.

Make sure in the 6fire Mixer that you have "Front" or "Internal" or "Rear" set according to your Line inputs.

cheers
