I'm building up a home studio for multi-track recording and currently working with:

P4-2,4Ghz w/512MB RDRAM
40GB & 80GB Maxtor DiamondMax Plus HDDs
Yamaha F-1 USB2.0 Ext CD-RW
Dual 17" Monitors on 2x GeForce4 MX440 - 64MB
2x SBLive! (SB0100 & CT4830)
16CH StudioMaster ShowMix 16-4-2
Digitech MEQ Dual 14 Equalizer

I'm considering in getting an 8 input multi-track card because the SB Live!(s) are not sufficient for my recording needs, I read a few reviews & topics on several sites and came down to the choice of these cards:

Echo Layla 24
M-Audio Delta 1010
Aardvark Aark 24
Aardvark Q10

can anybody help me on the pros and cons of these cards... the pre-amps on the Q10 sound interesting but won't my mixer be kind of useless? until now I'm still pretty happy with my mixer..
And does anybody have any good advice on a piar of active near-field monitors? These monitors kind of caught my interest but having trouble on deciding (not having the money doesn't even make it easier):

Alesis M1 Active MK2
Genelec 1029A
M Audio BX8
Yamaha MSP5

Can anybody help me on this? thanks a lot...

You have enough power to do just about anything...

If your mixer board has direct outs, consider the Layla. Good results all around. If not, consider the Aardvark, it's got great preamps, and all the bells and whistles you want.

I use a Darla24 from Echo and I'm very happy with it. If the Layla is anything like it you should be more than happy.
