it always sound like somethings missing, and the mic is horrible.....well, its a cheap mic (and i do mean cheap (($3))

G - I don't know your situation, but if you can save up the money, get yourself something like an M-Audio Audiophile card, or some other pro-consumer level card. The Soundblaster cards, even their flagship products, are just not suited for music production. First though, buy a halfway decent mic.

Also, the mic inputs are crap. You will get better results using a mixer or mic preamp into the line inputs. With a decent mic you should get tolerable results. It will be a world better than what you're hearing now.

Get yourself a 24-bit card. It's like going from a narrow hallway to an open quiet studio.
