I was wondering if an onboard SPDIF output on many motherboards (Shuttle in particular) would be compatible with SPDIF inputs on pro sound interfaces, like the M Audio 410 and the MOTU 828. I vaguely remember something about PRO v. consumer formats for SPDIF. I'm thinking about having a separate machine running just Gigastudio 160 with a main machine with Sonar 2.2 - the Sonar machine would just record and process sound and would get the inputs through the SPDIF from the Gigastudio computer into the audio interface. Obviously, I'd need a MIDI controller or 10 to get simultaneous playback/ recording. Does anybody else have a setup like this?
