going from fl7 to fl8

ok so I just installed fl8.
Im wondering whats the easiest way to transfer all my data from fl7.
would i just cut n paste all the folders into the new ones or just set fl8 to search fl7. do I need to keep fl7 installed to access this stuff?
im talking about like mixer channel presets and templates

You can copy user files over. For instance you favorite plug-ins list:
FL folder -> System -> Config -> favplugins.scr

or the templates you may have made:
FL folder -> Data -> Projects -> Templates

Not sure about copying over all the folders, please share if you did that and what the result is.

yea I did that just took everything from the fl7 folders and pasted them into the fl8 ones. all works no worries. I still have fl7 installed and will prob just leave it there untill I run out of harddrive space, just in case.

Nice! I know a "transfer/import/export" settings option is on the todo list, but it doesn't have priority really so it's good to know this works.

Next time I do an upgrade I'll do a folder comparison to see what files are new/changed.
