Hey everyone

I'm planning to replace my M-audio Fast Track Pro with new interface -Firepod or Firestudio Project, mainly becouse I need more inputs and better interface......

(I'll need the inputs mostly for mics. One for vocals, one for guitar amp mic, and two for stereo mics for acoustic instrument recordings. So that makes 4 inputs so far....)

My question is which one would you recommend?
I've heard that the Firepod is more 'stable' than FirestudioProject.
Is that true? Well, I don't want any system or software chrashes...etc
Do Firepod and FireStudioProject have the same mic gains? That's one of the most important things for me. I've read on Presonus website that the mic gain on Firepod is 54dB but in the manual I've downloaded says 45dB. I'm little confused....

I can't decide which one to buy, but somehow this 'reputation' of Firepod makes me wanna buy it. But I would really like to hear some opinions or Pros&Cons.

Any advice would be appreciated
thanks a lot
B

The FP-10 (the new name for the FirePod) has been around a lot longer, so driver development is a bit more mature. However, the FireStudio Project has been written for newer OS's, specifically. So if you use Tiger or XP, for stability's sake, the FP-10 may be better. If you're on Vista or Leopard, then I'd probably recommend the FSP.

I've never heard either of them, so I can't comment of the differences between mic pre's.

Thanks a lot for advice.
Well, I use XP but I hope in near future to purchase a Mac....
But till then I guess the Firepopd would be a wise decision.

Thank you again

I own 3 FP10's/Firepods. If I had it to do over again I'd own a firestudio. The reason is if you are wanting to setup seperate headphone mixes you cannot do it with the fp10's unless you buy a studio mixer with direct outs. So in that case you really wouldn't even need a fp10 when you could record right out of the mixer. I bought the megastudio producer and then 2 more fp10's because they are "daisy chainable." But what good does 24 inputs do if everyone has to hear the same mix during recording. Most musicians like a "more me" feature in the studio.
