i know this is a mac forum, so i assume the answer will be biased, but i didnt see a general computer forum.

my new computer is a vista machine

3.0 ghz amd dual core
3 gb ran
2 x 320 gb HD's

package with monitor and printer ran about $950

the lowest prices imac(top of my budget) is

2.0 ghz intel dula core
1 gb ram
250 gb HD

$1199

my question is how are the 2 going to compare? the specs on paper look way better for the PC, but i know vista hogs resources, but how much? will the mac be up to par for performance?

my main reason for the new computer is for running reason, and possibly later cubase or logic(if i go mac)

for the price difference is it worth it? and are there any compatibility issues with new new mac OS? i had a difficult time with my midi controller and vista.

To start you off, here is a well written, unbiased, and thorough comparison of Macs vs PC's:

Having worked with both a PC and a Mac I can say that Macs are far more user friendly. It seems that 2 GBs of RAM is becoming the standard (or will be soon) so you would want to upgrade your setup. Fortunately, you can add an extra GB for under $40 (and your iMac can hold up to 4 GB total):

I am running the most recent OS (10.5 Leopard) with the most recent Reason (4.0.1) and it's flawless. I have no first hand knowledge of Logic but from what I've read it runs great:

For the superior OS and ease of use, I personally prefer the Mac and I have no regrets about spending some extra money for something I'll be spending a lot of time with for years to come.
