I am getting a Firebox in the next couple of weeks, am very excited but have some doubts about the setup. Is is advisable to buy a motherboard with Firewire onboard or to have a card installed. Any recommendations? I also have a basic mixer(Behringer UB802). Would it be of any use patching it in the chain (for input or monitoring) or is it better to drop it altogether? I will be using the Firebox to record vocals, guitar, bass and keyboards (simultaneously sometimes)
The other doubt is regarding Cubase LE. Is it in anyway limited by way of number of simultaneous tracks it can record. Are there are any serious limitations about the LE version. I checked out the comparison chart but am a bit confused and am turning to the experts on the forum to help me out. Thanks in advance

Add-on card vs motherboard does not matter.

What does matter is that you use compatible firewire chips. Most manufacturers require TexasInstruments or Lucent firewire chipsets for interfaces to work reliably. Check with the manufacturer...

Limitations of the (older) Cubase versions here:

If you want to check out something a bit more powerful than LE, try REAPER (www.reaper.fm) I dropped SE for Reaper last year and haven't looked back....

Thanks Tim, will take a look at Reaper. Am just trying to keep costs low and going with the bundled Cubase LE with the Firebox.
Will look for a mobo with a branded Firewire chip
Any tips on how to patch the mixer into the chain?
Thanks again for the support. Really appreciate it. Am based in India and cannot hope for phone support from here(costs a bomb to call!!)
