Sorry for my ignorance, but I recently got a great deal on the Razer AC-1 soundcard. I currently have a Gigabyte board with onboard Realtek ALC888 HD audio. I was planning on selling the soundcard, but am now curious - will I notice a big difference over my onboard sound? I play some games but mostly listen to music. I have the Logitech 5300 5.1 setup (mid-range speakers). Thanks for any advice!

There is very little difference in quality regardless which "gaming" standard soundcard you use.
In professional audio applications, the first thing that gets disabled is the Sound Blaster type sound cards in favor of professional sound cards, either PCI, USB or Firewire.
But the odds are slim you will hear any difference in your consumer grade gaming cards.
