hi, i'm considering either buying a motu pre8 or mackie onyx 400f.
i would just be using it for recording acoustic piano/guitar/sax/bass etc.
i wondered whether there was any particular advantage or superiority to the onyx preamps, since they seem to have such a high reputation.
i know the motu has more preamps, but does the fact that it costs roughly the same mean they are less quality?
also, my miking options are at the moment limited to cheap mikes (rode nt5's and a rode nt1a), so would this nullify any slight advantage of better preamps.
i'm running logic pro7 on an mac g4 pwerbook.
