Laptop soundcard

hi,

i'm designing a new computer based music server, and am thinking of using my laptop as a sound generator at my stereo. to connect to it, will the 16 bit DACs built into it (sblaster) be adequate enough for music listening only? most of the audio will be lossless CDs, either FLACs, or ALACs.

Unless it's doing something processor intensive, I would think it should be ok

Does it sound good enough to suit you? Unless you would never dream of playing anything except the loudest modern pop and rock, try some simple vocal and acoustical tracks and see if they come out satisfactorily.
