I'm currently using a Sound Blaster Live 5.1! Model Number SB0220. It doesn't have Coaxial or Optical unfortunately, but on the card itself is a connector entitled "SPDIF I/O".

Now I assume that means I can buy some kind of Cable, or Cable and Card to attach to that and allow me Coaxial and/or Optical inputs and outputs. But I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm looking for, help would be much apprechiated since I'm hopeless with sound systems.

Thanks

i believe you need a 3.5mm to optical adapter to use with the soundblasters. the SBs seem to combine functions in a few ins/outs.

it sounds like a proprietary device. go to creative's site and check there.

If it's not optical, it could be digital coaxial?

After a little research...I did find this:

Looks like a 1/8" to "S-Video style" DIN connector

According to Creative's website the little Optical/Coaxial module they sell isn't compatible with my card.

But you're saying I could buy a cable that fits into the orange port at the end.. but what would that in turn connect too?

it turns into that...I think 9-pin?...plug for use in speaker systems with it included...what were you going to plug it into?

I'm trying to plug my soundcard into my speaker system via either Coaxial or Optical.

You should be able to get a digital coax adapter at Radio Shack...it should work on the spdif connection
