Was wondering if any of you folks know the typical process count in Vista (home premium)?

Even after disabling and/or uninstalling the obvious stuff, Napster Crapster and what not (this is a Gateway built laptop),
the process count shows @ 60 - 62 running.

This is my wife to be's business book, so I am not trying to optimize for audio,
I am just trying to get it to resemble a computer...you know, where it computes things in a timely fashion.

Thus far I have got it to be usable, uninstalling McAfee was a major improvement by the way,
but is Vista just a big, bloated turd or what?

It's in the low 30's. And total RAM usage, at idle, is in the low 400 MB's. Try running msconfig as outlined in the optimization guide. You'll notice a difference.
