I have a very old Yamaha RX-330 receiver that I am connecting to my laptop. I am using a 3.5mm audio cable to connect it to my laptop, and unless i press down on the end of the cable connecting to the receiver, it makes a very loud buzzing noise. When I do press down, everything sounds fine. Since the receiver is so old (1989 I think), it looks like it was made for use with regular old AUX cables. If I buy an 3.5mm to AUX convert cable, would that fix the problem? Im kind of new to audio setups so I dont really know what im talking about.
Thanks

Well, i think i need more info first.

Does the receiver play audio from the source while its buzzing? Or, does it only play when you hold it down?

Did you mean RCA (red/white) cables for the receiver?

It sounds like either you have an 1/8" jack plugged into the wrong spot...or, there is an issue with an internal connection on the receiver...

..or the cable is bad....

But...more info would be helpful...

Clean the receiver jacks with some rubbing alcohol. better yet open it up and air dust, probably some critters in there. If you can get in there and squeeze the jack
