Im having a problem with with my m-audio micro. It works fine sometimes, and others it creates a real distorted noise. To get rid of the god awful static noise I have to open up the audio hardware box and close it. Anyway I tried changing the latency around - 128, 512, 1024...ect and it still does it. You would think raising it would help? I also noticed that it acts up more when i have a bunch of tracks playing... so im assuming my integrated sound card (realtec AC97) can't handle it? Also I know ideally im supposed to be using a ASIO supported card, which I cant afford, but i was wonder if a cheaper in the range of $50-$100 card would fix my problem? Oh, and my keystation keyboard works fine, with no latency issues. Im also wonder if it could be a software issue, with Session? Im new at this recording thing, so bare with me. :D

You can try running with these drivers for your on-board soundchip......

www.asio4all.com (http://www.asio4all.com)

Are you using any other USB devices?

Have you checked for IRQ sharing?

I'm having the same problem. It didn't do it when I first installed the m-audio micro and oxygen 8 keyboard on my new computer, but a couple weeks later. I have a new Dell Inspiron 531,Athlon 64 X2 5000+ with intregrated sound (I think). The PC is running Vista and I have installed all the drivers for Session, the Micro and Oxygen 8 for Vista. What else can I do to troubleshoot?

The M-Audio drivers for the Micro are ASIO drivers. Have you tried connecting it to different USB ports? Try disabling your built-in sound card, it may be conflicting.

Yes did both. I connected to another usb port and also disabled the soundcard. I did the same as always. I works great for a few minutes and then suddenly starts distorting. This seems very strange. The only other thing connected to a usb port is my oxygen 8, but it was not on this last time. I am very confussed.

It's likely that your USB host controller is sharing an IRQ with something else, not a conflict with another device connected to said controller (ie oxygen 8). I'd start looking at your IRQ list to see what devices may be sharing an IRQ with your USB host controllers.

Yeah, I disabled the things on the same IRQ as the usb controllers and it still distorted the audio intermitantly. Any other ideas?
