Hi all, I had a question about using the software Ventrillo. What I want to do is listen to music through my surround sound, and hear my friends talk through my headset. That way I can both listen to music and hear what they are saying. Is this at all possible? Thanks in advance!

Set the default speakers (your surround sound) driver as your default one through windows.
If you don't know how to get to this through windows, you can get to it through ventrillio as well. Just go to ventrilo, click setup, and press playback (output).
This will make your music play through those speakers.

For your buds, open ventrillio, go to setup, select the output device dropdown menu, and select your headset drivers. That should do it.

The only thing I may be mistaken on is it could be under input device instead of output device, but I'm 99.9% sure its output.

Does this require 2 sound cards?

Yes, it does. I didn't think about that since I've had 2 soundcards for a long time. A bought a Creative Audigy SE about a year ago for $30 at comp usa, it works great.

edit: this is it

I have 2 sound cards, one is a Montego DDL, and one is a Cobra sound card. Problem is when I install one of the drivers it seems to uninstall the other driver.

That shouldn't make a difference, the drivers are just software and shouldn't even notice each other. Are those two cards from the same company?

No, one is AO and one is Turtle Beach. When I put the hardware in it installs the default drivers for the AO then I restart my computer. I then go to my Montego control panel and it gives me an error message saying it can't open. So then I reinstalled the Montego drivers and for some reason the sound wasn't coming out of my speakers, but was coming out of my headset, even when I set it to Digital output. It's very odd...

Well... I think I will just mess around with it and see if I can get it working. Thanks for your time!
