I've been suffering from this issue for a while now. I'm not able to record sounds from an internal source (youtube, winamp, media player, games, windows error message sounds, etc.). I'm perfectly able to record from external sources such as my hardware synths.

I have a clean winXP installation, with latest audiophile drivers. I'm using Sonar 6 which has been set up as mentioned in the m-audio knowledge base.

Anyone with the same issue?

I can't find the thread right now, but I'm pretty sure this came up not too long ago. I think the problem is that the AP192 is different from the other Delta cards because it doesn't have a "monitor mixer" choice for your recording source. With the other delta cards, you can set your recording input to be the monitor mixer and record what's playing back on your computer; but the 192 has a dedicated monitor output so it's kinda hardwired.

I think the only option with the 192 would be to get software like Total Recorder that could capture the audio stream. Otherwise, maybe you could switch the input in Sonar to be the built in sound card on the system?

That was going to be my reply, I run the 2496's and I do this all the time (Radio 3).

You can of course link in and out sockets but this is both impractical and the levels can be too hot.

However, if the 192 is like the 2496 in its S/PDIF structure, it puts out digital all the time (unless you tell it not to). Thus you could try linking coax in to coax out and selecting S/PDIF as input in software. I have this linked but to another pc, both ways and can swop digital signals as I wish.

Cannot see at the mo' why it would not work?

Dave.

You can't do digital out to digital in with one soundcard. With S/PDIF, the receiving card has to use the clock from the sending device.

The general process is to select the Monitor Mixer as the input device in the recording program. On the Delta Control Panel you should see the hardware output VU meters active when such audio is playing. Mute must not be checked, so data can get through to the mixer. Likewise, Mute must not be checked under Master Volume. Given those conditions, the recording application should receive the signal.

This is based on the older Delta Control Panels. I don’t know how much correspondence the Audiophile 192 has with them. Perhaps, like many professional cards, there is no hardware route for such recording, and helper application such as Total Recorder and Virtual Audio Cables are the only options.
