Ok, here is my problem. When I am recording into Garageband, Cubase, Logic, or any program, and I have the sound output set to go through my Alesis, I can only record/playback/etc for a few minutes before all of the sound coming from my computer through the mixer becomes completely unintelligible, scratchy, screechy, and everything you don't want to hear. Please note, it doesn't stop playing or putting sound through, the sound just suddenly becomes so distorted and nasty sounding that I can't even make it out. I have installed and reinstalled all the drivers and firmware, so I know that is not the problem. I actually took the mixer back and exchanged it for another one, so i know it's not the mixer. And I have tried every possible combination of latency settings in every conceivable control panel. I have tried closing all background programs. My computer has plenty of hard drive, 2 gigs of memory, and good processors...that is not the problem (it's a Macbook). If I turn everything off for a little while, it works again for a few minutes, but it eventually does it again.
There is something going on between my computer and mixer that I just can't seem to fix. Should I shut off my wireless card? Should I shut my bluetooth off? Should I get a better quality firewire chord? (the one i have is already petty good). I find it hard to believe that I'm the only person who has this problem. ANY help would be incredibly appreciated. I'm about to go crazy over here. Thanks so much.
