directx glitch

I have the M-Audio: Axiom 49, Firewire 410 and I am running Ableton 5.0.3.

With that said, I had some major issues with these tools last night. However, after 2 and a half hours working on this issue. I found that in fact it didn't have anything to do with the controller or the firewire interface. It was the automatic update of "Directx10.1".
I deleted the 10.1 version and reinstalled 9.0. Now everything works perfectly again.

What happens is the keyboard/controller and Ableton all seem to be working correctly. The volumes all look like they are working but, their isnt any sound coming out of the monitors.

If you run into this this is the easiest way I have found to fix this issue.


It was a very very frustrating night. So I just wanted to put this out there to hopefully reduce headaches.

Automatic updates should be disabled....pick and choose what updates you should install manually.....never allow Microsoft to decide what it is that you need.....and thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, I wish you would have been around that day. And I couldnt agree more now that I have learned the hard way with Microsoft. I really just wanted to make it easier for others if they ran across the same problem.

Only becasue it was so freakin frustrating as you are well aware Im sure.

Anyway thanks for the advice.

As Itsplayed stated above, we also are pretty selective on what we download via Microsoft to DAW.
