Upgraded CPU.
Posts fine.
All drives recognized.
Will not boot to Windows XP Sp2
Just a black screen - no error messages, no beeps indicating an issue.

Thoughts?

Stripped out all cards sans video (ATI dual head something?)
Pulled all drives except OS drive which is an IBM deskstar 80gb.
Tried other drives with no OS and get error message to put in a floppy so cable seem to be good.
Tested with second cable and in the sec IDE controller too - same result.

Ugh.
Help.

Peripheral? I had a power outage recently, and now my PC will hang on a black screen after post unless the Samplitude dongle is removed. Weird, yes, but maybe something similar is happening to you. It still could be a bad system drive, since it does not give you a message to insert boot media with it, but does with another drive. Or, perhaps your boot device priority is wacked out in the BIOS.

Dongles are not connected.
Boot priority looks ok

Yuck. I've reinstalled Windows 4 times in the last year and a half. I feel your pain. Good luck.

I'll ask the dumb question...
Did you reinstall the mobo driver with video support?
I had issues with disabling an onboard video card then issues again with getting dual monitor card up. i suspect it is video card setup. I would try a boot with the ATI installed when you re config the HD. XP should pick it up, if not, switch 9-pin to mobo video.
