Hi. So, I use Ableton Live 6 with a Line 6 UX 2 sound card. I keep getting sound pops interspersed throughout my recordings. Basically, I use a condenser mic and hook it up to the soundcard. I've tried playing with the gain on the mic, changing up the distance I keep from the mic, and switching off mic ports. Also, the recording on ableton is on the lowest bit rate. And I have 1.5gb of memory on this computer, so I don't think that's the problem. Also, my preferences on Live 6 say that my multiprocessor support is off. So that's not the problem either, right? Nothing seems to work. What should I do?? Thanks for helping!!

Try following this guide (http://www.audioforums.com/windows-xp-optimization.php ), and also raise the latency in the Line 6 control panel.

Do the pops sound like they are electronic, like a loud, short click? Do they only happen when the volume you are putting in to the mic is very loud?
I had a usb 1.1 sound card once, and I constantly had problems with clicks on every different system I tried. My clicks were always only in the playback though, not actually in the recording. USB 2.0 is supposedly quite a bit better, though.

Thanks for your help. No, they don't sound electronic, and they are there regardless of the mic volume. I used to be able to record with this mic and soundcard without problems. I don't know what's going on with it now...
