Of course, lacking the resources to get a NEW unit, I purchased on on EBAY that was listed in "perfect" working order, only to find after power up that there is serious pink noise/static on CH 1 and 3 with gains full down.

Now the question becomes: are these channels fried?

The noise exists whether connected to the computer or not, I changed power sources etc.

I am located in Ontario California. Is there a repair shop that handles repairs or does it have to go home to maudio?

Thanks.

I talked to m-audio repair a while ago. Thry happen to be very close to me in Irwindale, Ca.

The wait on hold was looong, the tech who came on the line was VERY helpful (his name is Vince Fiero). He told me that I need to send (bring) the unit in. The problem: fried mother board. He said it will take about 2 weeks to fix and they will replace the mother board, tweak the unit completely and the cost will be about $150.00 total, including parts and labor.

He assured me that the unit will be "as new" when I get it back. We'll see.

Well, I was told to call for an appointment to drop the unit off. I have the RA number and the telephone number to "check status and arrange dropoff," but all you can do is leave a message. I left three messages, no call back.

My choices are to continue with that or to ship the unit via UPS. Very frustrating because shipping will be about $25. and that's 1/2 tank of gas.

I'd like to drop it off, so I'll continue to try that route.

Went to the M-Audio Offices in Irwindale California today and talked with Vicky, the RA customer service rep. I dropped off the unit to her. She said they are "swamped" right now and it'll take 2 to 4 weeks to get it fixed and back to me (I'll be picking it up.)

I will say that they were very concerned about getting the unit in for repair and spent about 15 minutes talking with me about the unit, the repairs, the rates etc. If the repair get's too expensive, they'll replace the unit. I'm not sure how that will work because I am not the original owner, and it is not under a warranty. (I got ripped off on Ebay by topflight24 who said the unit was "working perfectly.")

Of course Ebay (all care no responsibility) has a complaint and Mr. Moron himself Josh "God Bless" has my money. Another criminal BAC.

But I'm a better man than he, and I'll get this unit fixed up and ready for action. I'll keep this diary open util the unit is back in my hands working.
