mute firebox during recording

Hello all, and thanks in advance.

I am using Logic 8 on my macbook - with a firebox. (also have Alesis Monitor Ones)

What is the best way to mute the audio, coming out of the monitors, while I am recording an acoustic, voc, etc.? So that it only comes out of the headphones.

There must be an easier way than turning down the volume knob on the firebox every time.

Should I be using a mute button in the Firebox mixer?

What are the proper settings in the mixer?
