I keep reading about latency of audio cards with apps. Most I see are <10ms and the good ones are ~1.5ms. MOTU and others (I think ESI) advertise 0 latency. Is it truely 0? When do I really have to worry about latency?

I'm thinking of upgrading to a point where I will only use computer based mixing and have ~32 channels of analog into the computer without an external mixer.

So far, Sonar will be running the setup.

Thanks

All cards are capable of zero latency when monitoring "directly". No card is capable of zero latency when monitoring through native effects. The whole "zero latency" thing is just a gimmick basically. If you plug a microphone into a Soundblaster, the sound comes out the speakers with zero latency. If you open Cubase and do not have "direct monitoring" enabled then your monitoring through software then there is latency.
