Auralex, 3M, and the Leinenkugels brewery.

So I finally went the extra mile and treated my room. I'm practicing what I preached in my last post or two about monitors. My biz partner gave me 6 Sonoflat Panels and then I bought $300 worth of Auralex absorption panels/Bass traps.

This is added to my new Studio RTA desk (which I had an experience with) and my complete rebuild of my room. Not to mention making a complete f'ing disaster of the rest of my townhome. Thank God for an understanding wife!!!! The room now has all the pieces back in it and all the instruments. Just have to clean the rest of the place now. Here are some pics of the new Auralex. WOW, does it make a difference!!!

Guanche,

There is about $400 of panels up there. I paid 287 or so for the GC roominator kit and the Burgundy Sonoflats are about 20 a piece. I have 6, but only used 5. There is about 20 worth of mounting tape as well.

(thats about the only room that is that clean....where do you think all the stuff that hasn't gone back in yet is?? My wife is about ready to stay at her brother's place if I don't get the place cleaned up. :)

I'm still kind of freaking out each time I come in the room. You really don't realize how many reflections a small room like that can have until you start to get them under control. I still have some work to do. I have to tame the window/closet set of facing walls. That will be a combo of left over X11 panels on the closet doors and new "curtains" from JoAnn fabrics. and by that I mean a curtain rod with some matching color heavy fabric that can be moved to taste. After that it will be down to re-tuning the room with the 31-band EQ and the PAA analyzer and I'll be ready in time to mix our next project!!

Nice Howie! I'd bet that there is a great difference after having no absortion. I use a couple large "heavy" drapes in my studio they work awesome, especially if you can find some in an abandoned theater (hard to do) I am finally getting ready to move my gear to another building with 12 foot ceilings. I used the tube adhesive for panels and am having to use a 4" plastic dry wall knife to get it off, I will be using double back tape this time around, glad to see you did! Give wife valium (check on her often:) )
