Okay ive got a problem on my hands. Everything works fine on my sound card but im having problems with my input. Ive connected my mixer from my decks to my line in using a analog 2 rca cable left and rightand i can record to soundforge. But i cant hear what im recording?
I know my soundcard can only do 96khz input or output at one time, but even when its on 44khz it still wont work. What could be the problem, i jst want the sound from my mixer to be player through my computer so i can hear it.

You need to enable software monitoring in your recording application. The Audiophile USB does not have direct monitoring capability.

So in other words, its not possible to play throguh my decks unless i have a program which enables it to do that. What programs have software monitoring and are good to record mixes too. Does soundforge 8 have software monitoring?

Audition 2, a better program than Soundforge, does provide software monitoring on its extensive recording facilities. It is also becoming the mixing and mastering standard.

I cant fork out more money for more programs :(
Can my copy of soundforge monitor, or what about ableton live?

Ableton Live has software input monitoring. It's set to "auto" by default so when you record arm a track, it should feed through to the output so you can hear it. Make sure you are using the M-Audio USB ASIO driver, and if there is an audible delay in the monitored signal, quit Live and lower the buffer size from the Audiophile control panel and re-launch Live. The lower the buffer the lower the lantecy; however, slower systems may not perform well with low buffer settings. Start at 512, then try lowering to 256, and if need be, 128.

Okay worked :)
But does that mean i cant record and monitor at 24bit 96khz only monitor and record at 16bit 48khz?

Yeah, it's a bandwidth limitation of USB:
16-bit/44.1kHz > 4-in/4-out
24-bit/44.1kHz > 4-in/2-out or 2-in/4-out
24-bit/48kHz > 4-in/2-out or 2-in/4-out
24-bit/96kHz > 2-in or 2-out

Sorry guys one more question. How would i go on the internet radio now. I normally would use vdj. So i would have to open up ableton, monitor from that, then record through vdj?

I don't understand. Are you wanting to record internet radio? If so, that would require a 3rd party application such as Total Recorder. Most pro audio cards (Audiophile included) bypass the Windows kernel mixer and can't record the computers output.

The problem is not bypasing the Windows Mixer; most PCI cards have their own mixer application. Many have DSP that is controlled in that mixer application and can easily record from the internet or any on-computer application. With USB and firewire, however, this is very nearly the same problem as monitoring the input + output -- there isn't any way to do it except via extra software.

Ill explain it abit better.
I used to use vdj to play from my decks then stream it through the internet so other people could listen to me djing. Now because i have this external soundcard, as you said, i need software that can monitor the input and then put it into an output. VDJ is a software that cant monitor the input. So how would i be able to stream what im playing if i cant use VDJ. Could i use example ableton in the background to monitor the input, then use vdj to stream it?
