Studio RTA desks

So, does anybody else here own a Studio RTA desk?? I recently bought the Project Station and what a hassle with that thing. I bought it from the local GC and when I started to put it together I had a few things missing. Now, I can understand in mass production missing a bolt or screw or so here and there but this was ridiculous. All the big pieces were there, but here are the counts that were off and by how many:

Cam bolt: need: 4, had: 6
Cam Lock: need: 4, had:5
Allen Screw: need: 4, had 6

so far just extra, no big deal....now is where the fun comes in:

Allen Bolt (long): had 4, but wrong size. they were 3/16" for a 5/16" hole
Allen Bolt (short): had: 4, need: 16
Phillips Screw: had: 40, need: 48
Rackmount screws with washers: had:32, supposed to have:20 each
Allen wrench: had: 1, supposed to have: 2
Washer: Had: 0, or they sent 12 too many rack washers instead, need: 8

Now, I goofed and should have counted every piece to start with so when I did order parts the first time I could have ordered them all. Instead I made one order and two trips to Home Depot. Has anybody else run into something this glaring?? They were off by 50 pieces!!!! Comets have come closer to hitting earth than these guys got to the actual piece count. Either way, the desk is together, looks nice after some handywork by me. Sad thing is I work for Best Buy and we sell A LOT of their computer work stations. Kind of soured on them at the moment. Should have saved my money and just bought my Argosy. Sorry, my rant is over now. :)

hey Howie, I don't own the RTA desk, but on various forums I've heard the same horror stories that you are describing and had to deal with, sad for large manufacturer of computer desks to be this messed up with their hardware, also heard that once you have overcome the obstacles the desks do look pretty good though.

I bought 4x8x3/4 finished birch ply, cut, assembled, stained and glossed my own desk ...hey...I shorted myself on some screws hehe

I have the creation station and the producer desk - no problems setting up, no extra parts, everything fit. Sorry about your pain.

Now don't get me started about the fancy entertainment units designed for big screen LCD TVs... ugh 4 hours later and not enough parts.

I just purchased the project station recently. It is a great desk, and setup went pretty easily. Though I replaced the casters with blocks to lower it for the surface to be 29" high. and I chopped the supports and rack rails for the top tier so it wasn't so bloody high. Otherwise I would have been looking high up at my monitors, and I don't want to have to get up every now and then because my neck hurts.

Yeah, I don't like to completely write a company off with one experience, but I thought this was pretty bad. Like I said, once it's together, it's really nice. I can't wait to get my computer and gear back so I can put it all together. I'm just going to be a little more aware and keep an ear to the ground about their stuff now.
