I want to hear midi sounds played through an RME multiface sound device connected to my laptop PC. My question is whether I can accomplish this while using a midi soft synth. For example, I want to know if I can use an RME Multiface sound device with a Midi Soft Synth such as the Edirol VSC-3 running under Windows XP. Here are some of my specific questions. In the Windows XP Control Panel / Audio section, is the proper Windows XP midi out setting the RME or the VSC-3? If I do use the RME and VSC-3 together, must I set the RME to the high latency of the soft synth? If I do not want to operate at high latency, and my only midi applications are modest, is there an economical low-latency midi hard synth option for me to use with the RME? Thanks in advance for any guidance you all might offer here.
