hey everyone here is a question for you I am just starting to provide pa services for rock bands and have a question about processors
for my main pa I currently run a set of art 500 s by mackie with a 1402 mixer paired with a carvin dcm 1500 amp .

i am looking at putting at least a delay reverb unit in the audio chain post mixer and pre amp along with a garphic eq along with compressor limiter and use the inserts and effects on the board for just that or should i plug everything in to the loop on the board

thanks

hi,
in general,
when i work with a band, i like to work dry, i don't use a processor. I have a real time analyzer and 2 parametric eq's (to pull out resonant frequencies of the different types of rooms i work in) and one DBX compressor which i use to compress the main mix to my QSC PL4 driving my mains.

in general, a processor sounds funny on the whole mix, you should group your instruments into drums, guitars, horns, strings and vocals. then if the vocals need or want reverb, you can use the buss insert to add FX to just the vocals.

of all the bands i have worked with, only one singer asked me for a bit of reverb.

as for the guitars and bass, they usually provide their own FX. just mic their Amp.
