Hi,
I am by no means an audio expert but if someone gives me instructions I can follow the basics.
My problem Is I have an XBOX 360 with composite audio leads (white and red) as the audio output..and a nice set of stereo speakers where you just shove that fidgety metal wire into the back with the red and white clips. Is there any adaptor or method which could make my 360 output it's audio to these speakers?
thanks

Plug the X-Box into an audio receiver that will accomodate those speakers.

The Xbox won't power the speakers directly. Just connect it to a home stereo, just as you would with a tape or CD deck.

hi ther,
welcome to audio forums,
a little background,
the term composite does not refer to the type of connector, what you are referring to is called an RCA connector, the audio (red and white) send an unbalanced consumer line level audio signal which needs to be amplified by a stereo amplifier to a level called speaker level. from there you can hook up your speakers to the amplifier.
the term composite is actually a video connection, it is an RCA connector sending a video signal referred to as a composite signal which is usually in a standard format such as NTSC, SECAM or PAL. It is a "composite" of three source signals called Y, U and V (together referred to as YUV) with sync pulses. Y is the luminance or brightness of the picture and incorporates a synchronizing signal. U and V carry the color information. They are first mixed with the two phases of a color carrier signal called the chrominance. Y and UV are then summed to make the picture you see on your monitor. no sound is sent through this yellow colored connector or cable.
