I’m looking for an external i/o device providing at least 4 digital s/pdif i/o lines connected to a computer by USB or Firewire or Ethernet or PC-card interface. Is there any? Thanks.

An S/PDIF is two channel or even 6, depending upon the file format. Ar you looking for 4 stereo pairs or four tracks or simply inputting four different devices at once? I've never seen anything with more than one S/PDIF connection (two actually, but one is input, the other output). What is the intended use?

I need 1 stereo in and 3 stereo out, simultaneously. It is essential that there are 3 separate output S/PDIF connectors bearing 2 channels of audio each. Input S/PDIF connector should be able to pass in 2 channel audio and/or 1 channel non-audio (encoded stream). Think in terms of external 5.1 sound cards without DAC/ADC. The device will be used in experiments concerning transport and processing of multi-channel audio.
