Somebody has used the Terratec EWS MIC8+, it seems to be cool, 24/96kHz, phase, low-cut and mute settings for each channel, phantom power, at a low price... It looks to good to be truth, but what about the converters and preamps quality, and most of all, driver COMPATIBILITY!!!!!
I plan to use it on a P4 on SONAR and Cubase SX

Any opinions... I`m seriously thinking on getting it
Thanks.
Roy

I recently installed a TerraTec EWS 88D in my recording computer and it seems to work very well once I figured out how to install it. The install disk was totally wrong. I went to the terratec.net site and downloaded the control panel and drivers and threw away the install CD.

I works a lot faster than my former USB optical sound card.

I owned a terratec card a few years ago (so it's a different model) and it was just as bloody noisy as a soundblaster. Which means I wouldn't be buying one again, ever.

Fostex is now supporting TerraTec. You can get a lot of information at the Fostex site. The new cards are getting good revues and as to noise..my new optical card is dead quiet. I can't get any noise to show up on my meters when I simply hit record with no input.

Hard to beat the price.

GZsound... duh if you record through optical (digital) imput it doesn't matter what card you use really... it needs no conversion thus is clean. The audio imputs may be a different story alltogether.

Thank you...I was also referring to the audio output of the card but neglected to mention that. I deserved the ...duh.

Just bought one and must admit that I'm more than satisfied with overall sound quality and as owner of SB platinum I consider this to be a great step forward for a ridiculous price.
I did encounter some problems with occasisonal crakling noise when playing files in WIn media player 7.1 but after contacting support team and downloading 4 in 1 drivers for via kt 1333 based motherboard crackling disapeared.
There are some Asio conflicts too in Cubase but I believe that this could be due to my OS Win98 which is not supported at all so I have to consider upgrading to XP.
Card is very quiet and versatile with crystal, crisp and clean sound and much closer to a professional card definition than SB cards. Ideal for a "one man project studios" working with audio recording (Midi is it's weak point)
I know that there are better cards on the market but not for a 250$.
