I have one of these running a 70 volt system, they are amazing when it comes to user configuration, however, with the cost of these amps being so low, i was wondering is anyone has use this amp for FOH purposes?
I need to get myself a good power amp that pushes over 600 watts per channel at 8 ohms.

the price on the XTi 4000 which is spec'd at 650 watts @ 8 ohms for 900.00 is a bargain for a new one.
otherwise, I am looking at a used QSC PL4 for 1100.00 which pushes 900 watts @ 8 ohms.

has anyone used this amp (crown) and what do you guys think of it?
any input would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

hey sabian, I haven't used that particular Crown amp, but I am a big fan of their products. Kinda like you are with the QSC gear. Both offer excellent value for the dollar, and Crown makes some very expensive amps too.

On the low end I have a couple of the XS602's 375w@8ohms, and never have had a problem, matter of fact I've never had a problem with a Crown amp...900watts at 8 ohms will be kickin' @4!!!

hey sabian, I have used both of these amps, I love the XTi series For the fact that it frees up rack space by having a built in eq and crossover. It puts out more than enough sound for your application. Just make sure that you have a laptop pc that is running xp in order to truly utilize the programing capabilities of the XTi.

I recently was looking to purchase another power amp and looked at the XTi series. I already have a Crown XLS amp that has been very reliable.

The XTi series looked like it had too much "stuff" included with the amp that could go wrong. I need a simple reliable power amp without a lot of bells and whistles.

After doing a lot of research, I ended up buying a QSC GX5.
