Hi,

Ive just recently bought a new system and Im having loads of problems with unstability. The set-up is;

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ (2.8GHz) Socket AM2 1MBL2 Cache
Asus M2N-E Socket AM2 NF570ULTRA 2000FSB
2x Ebuyer 1GB DDR2 667MHz PC2-5400 240pin value RAM (sorry :( )
2x Maxtor 7200RPM SATAII 8MB Cache (250Gb, 200Gb)
Nvidia G-Force 7100Gs 256MB Graphics card
EMU 1820m Soundcard
600w PSU

The motherboard has already been replaced as the system kept rebooting and would sometimes get into a loop, I thought I had narrowed it down to a DIMM slot, but it is still doing the same thing.
It does seem to work better when I take one stick of RAM out, but Im not sure whether that is just luck of the draw!
It actually crashed while I was writing this and the error report I got was as follows;

BCCode : 1000008e BCP1 : 80000003 BCP2 : 80531488 BCP3 : B87F0B40
BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

I'm not sure if that means anything to anyone!?

As well as this, it is also really struggling to run Cubase SX2, or more specifically, some of the VST's. The Edirol Orchestral works most of the time but has a funny few minutes occasionally, but the Rhino 2 hardly plays and when it does (the rhythmic setting) seems to be playing at the wrong speed, as though not synced to the bpm.

Im trying to complete an album for my final degree and Im unable to do anything with this system... Im actually loosing the will to live! so if anyone could help me I would be so grateful!

Thanks

I would suspect the ram. When choosing ram for your system, you should always stick to those brands found on the QVL list associated with your MOBO of choice. I'm afraid that E-buyer ram is not on that list. You can try updating the MOBO's BIOS and disabling BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. Have you tried running a memory testing utility? What brand power supply are you running with?
I would also look at the graphics card as a possible cause. Have you recently updating the drivers for your graphics card? If not, try this first.
A BIOS update may solve your issue as well.

Also go to Start > Run and type in 'dxdiag' and post the results.

I would second the ram being the most likely problem.

I just put a new pc together:

Asus P5N E-SLI
C2D E6600
...

I originally got some Adata ddr2 800 (2 x 512)

I had nothing but problems for weeks. I RMA'd the mother board because I ran MemTest and it gave me no problems or errors.

Finally I broke down and bought Crucial Ballistix ddr2 800 (2 x 512) and I haven't had a single problem since.
