I have an audiophile 2496 installed on my system but it didn't come with the midi and audio cables. I bought an m-audio uno for a midi quickfix and it seems to be recognizing the drivers, but when I open any of my software editors the uno midi in/out never seems to show up in the drop down menu, only the delta driver for my soundcard. Could the driver for my sound card be conflicting with each other? I really need to get this setup right away and it's getting on my nerves. Can someone please help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Doubtful that midi drivers would interfere with audio card drivers.

I'm running a Motu828mkII with it's midi port on a Yamaha windsynth but use a MidisportUSB2x2 for my 88-key axe and also have an M-Audio Keystation49e plugged in via USB. Nothing conflicts and everything works perfectly.

Try removing both devices, completely removing their drivers and then installing them again one at a time.

by the way
the 2496 is fickle to say the least, it's noisy, and good enough for messin around.
there are sites that i forget where they are for some asio work arounds for various software. Do the update thing off thier site, one update at a time, as I have had issues where I 'over-updated' various older sound cards and got into trouble. Case in point, just updated Sonar 6 to 6+.2 and it FK;d up my whole config with my old teratec cards, so I un-installed and re-installed the primary program at 6.0. if it aint broke don't fix it, lest you are really really bored

Did you load the software before connecting the hardware?

Did you go into the Control Panel to address your midi device? Settings->Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices (or) Sounds and Multimedia (or) Multimedia->Audio->MIDI music playback and select the MIDI port of your M-Audio device (or it's first port if it has more than one).

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. Last post asked:

Last poster doesn't seem to get it. It's the fact that the thing does NOT show up that's the problem.

The device does NOT show up in the control panel, that IS the issue. And it's not the device: I installed the same device (without any hesitation or driver downloads) on a Dell laptop. The desktop I've got does not recognize the Uno just like the original poster is describing. So it has to be some sort of configuration in the computer that is preventing the recognition. The question is, WHAT???

I've used the same device without issue on a desktop, so the issue lies within your particular system. What are the specs of your computer? Have you ever updated the BIOS and system drivers for it? If you go to the device manager, does it show any signs of an issue...ie. question mark, exclamation point, etc.? And have you tried installing the device drivers manually?

Just to say I have one pc Xp pro with a 2496 (VERY quiet and well behaved) and an Ekeys 49 usb keyboard and a Berry BCA2000 connected. All show up as MIDI devices in Samplitude 8SE.

Another pc with Win med cen ed has an equally quiet and well behaved 2496 in it and this has a usb hub on it with bits like printers, sticks, Maxtor 400G drive and sometimes the ill fated UCA202 hung on it and all works fine.

The two pc's are networked (xover lan) and I would love to find a way for one MIDI device to be controlled by the other pc.

Dave.

Try disabling the card in Dev Mang (view by connection) plug in UNO. Reboot.
If it is now recognised, go back to D.M. and re-activate card.
