just wanted to know how to load files... say I get some refills..... are the files automatically placed in that specific synth. that they are supposed to be in or do I have to manually place them in there. Example/ if I have lets say an alien synth or something like that.. will it automatically be placed in the malstrom synth.. this might be a silly question and Im sure I will figure this out on my own I just want to avoid any confusion later. thanks

No. You need to put the refill in your reason folder. Then open the synth and navigate to the refill. Click on the refill and it will have sub folders or presets to choose from; click one and it will load into the synth.

What do you mean?

Are you asking: if you have a Malstrom patch you want to load, will Reason auto-load a Malstrom for you?
The answer depends on the version of Reason you're using. Anything earlier than 3.0, no. You have to load the Malstrom yourself, and open the patch.
Reason 3, you need to right-click empty rack space, create>create device by browsing patches. Opening any instrument or effect will load the relevant device automatically.
Choose the ends, Reason takes care of the means.
