Why on Earth would someone want to do something like that, you ask?
Well, I was playing around with Native Instruments' B4, and was quite impressed with its sound. So I thought I'd try recording it using Vegas.
The thing is the B4 sound is actually coming out of my DP 24/96.
I tried to plug a cable from one of the outputs in the breakout box into one of the inputs, but I was able to get only two results:
a clean, but very low, signal.
a very loud noise.
If I set the input level on the Aardvark Panel to any of the mic options I get the noise. If I set it to Ln and, say, -9dB I don't get the noise but the recorded track is very very low. If I try to raise the input level the noise comes in.
I normalized the recorded track using Sound Forge and it sounded alright, but isn't there a way to get a higher input signal from the beginning?
Furthermore, could this damage the sound card?
Thanks in advance,
LC
