I'm putting this in the software section because it was more to do with the software than hardware, and because it wasn't a Plug-in, nor utility software. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I've just recently bought 2 RME Fireface 800 units, and I have a question for those who may know. The RME works great so far, well except not entirely with Steinberg Wavelab 5 (PC). When I use ASIO drivers, the playback is choppy. It doesn't stop, or crash, it just sounds like a slight glitching or "smearing" whenever I move the faders in the master section. It however does not do this when I'm using WDM or WDM/MME drivers. I've tried various combinations of buffer settings and such, with no luck. The "smearing" does not export with the file, even if it's heard while editing in Wavelab. This problem also does not happen when using Cubase SX3, Live 6, nor Sound Forge 8.....it doesn't happen in any of the programs (Logic Pro 7, Cubase SX3, etc) when using the other RME on my Mac. I'm actually able to get almost insanely short latency and extremely stable workflow in every other software except Wavelab.
I'm using the most current drivers, and updates.
Is anyone having this problem, or has ever had this problem? For those who did have this problem, are you having it still in Wavelab 6?
I'm assuming it's Wavelab moreso than the RME, as it seems rock solid with everything else. Anyhow, all suggestions are welcomed.
Nice forum. :D
edit: On second thought, maybe this should go in the Steinberg section. I must've overlooked that. Feel free to move this, if it's belongs there.
