Cubase SL2 - Realtime monitoring with FX....

I suspect I'm doing something dumb here, but can anyone give me a clue how one goes about monitoring with channel insert effects during recording?

I'm running Cubase SL2 with an Edirol FA101 soundcard set to allow software to manage monitoring. The cubase manual seem to suggest it is perfectly possible to do this, however I only ever hear my raw signal.

Now it's been a while since i have worked in Cubase, but when I did I recall there being a setting to in the VST Multitrack settings. Direct monitoring I think it was called. Turn it off to monitor with effects
