ok so, since creative cards dont work well with vista i had to activate my onboard sound with bios.i do have the 5.1 slots for that onboard sound. when i go to test my speakers to see if there all plugged in properly. the sound comes out of all the speakers. front left/right center back left/right and subwoofer. now when i go play something in windows media player. or in my games, only the front left/right speakers work the subwoofer does not work, so does anyone know how to settle this problem? to make the sound from games and mp3s come out of all the speakers? thanks.

I have a sound blaster card and vista works ok with it. did you update the drivers. for some dumb reason it sees the game port but fails to load the driver other than that it works fine. I would never consider using it for mixing and such. wasn't designed for that.

i tried downloading the audigy 2 drivers on the creative website, but i have the same problem as alot of people. there is very crappy sound that plays for about 30 seconds and then it starts to get lower and then it just goes silent. so i gave up on that until they release a creative media center that works properly with vista. so now i activated my onboard soundcard. but 5.1 isnt working. when i test the speakers it works. but when i try to play mp3s or games, only the front speakers work. i dont get it. know how to make all the speakers work?

Ive had the same problem. based on what you wrote. You disabled your on board sound card. did you go into your settings and assign the s/b as your sound card. now testing it does not mean it is assigned to have 5.1 speaker you have to back in a tell it you have 5.1 surround sound. now also if the file is not surround sound it wont play it as such. sorry its been awhile since Ive mess with the s/b card. one last note some drivers work better than the others. if you are useing the 64 bit ver. vista i found the vista driver is terrible and ended up using the i think its called the xp 64 instead. or something to the effect.

good luck
