It seems that MOTU has beta drivers for Vista....has anyone tried this combination yet?

My number one rule of computing:
"NEVER use an OS or application that has less than a year out in the geneal public."
It does not pay to be an unpaid beta bug-tester for the companies while the drivers, applications and plugins are updated to nearly working versions. Vista is barely out of the door and unless you are just messing around with a spare test system, you can't seriously expect to get any work done without a whole lotta frustration and hair-pulling.
.....just my 2cents.....

I agree....I was just curious to know if anyone was beta testing and if so, what kind of performance they're getting. I'd also like to know how Vista seems to be treating/handling ASIO based hardware.

I have just purchased a new PC (with Vista Ultimate installed), and waiting now for the MOTU 828MKII to arrive...
Will keep everyone posted on my experience with the beta driver. If anyone else has something to share in the meantime, that would be great!!
Someone's gotta do it..... :)

It works. MOTU828MKII on Vista Business Premium. Vista is a resource hog and latency isnt great. But MOTU's drivers seem to work well.
*edited to add* This is NOT my production box, this is a test system. I'd wouldn't use Vista for real production audio until alot of things are worked out.

Thanks, certainly good to know.
Will post my findings once I receive my 828 next week.
Since everything is purchased brand new, I want to have the latest OS as well so I will take the risk... :) if anything goes beyond my tolerance level, I guess I would then consider falling back to XP. Will see how it goes.

Well, I finally got everything set up on Vista and configured this week. I am running Vista Home Premium (32 bit), Sonar 6.2 and a MOTU 8Pre. I plan on getting Reason installed next week. My computer is one of our CSTowerPluses (http://www.sweetwater.com/creation_station/tower.php) with a separate system drive for XP and Vista, as well as 2 data drives (4 total) and 1 GB total RAM. I did have to upgrade the video card, as this PC comes with on-board video. I'm using an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro in the AGP slot.
In short, everything is working absolutely fantastically. The only odd issue I have is a slight crackling sound through the Phones output when Vista loads, but other than that, it's cool.

Thats good that its working on a computer that old, too. I wasn't sure about compatibility with legacy type systems since I only have dual cores and newer to work with now.
