Hey everyone. I was wondering if there has been anyone to ever try out the Peavey FX boards. I currently have a Mackie VLZ Pro 24-4 that was donated to our church about 7 years old that was already about 8 or 9 years old. That board has not dissapointed me, but I am now looking for a new board and am thinking about the Peavey 24FX or 32FX, and was wondering if I could get any feedback about the board. One of the things that I really like about the board is the USB option as an input and output to use with my laptop, because I've been recording all of the services. You can also use the USB to plug in a flash drive and record right into it. But I was wondering if anyone has ever heard this board. The gentleman at the store told me that the preamps were very quiet and highly recomended this board to me, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me from experience.
Also, I am considering the Yamaha MG32/14FX board, which I have not heard anything negative about this board. I am actually leaning more towards the Yamaha, just because I haven't heard any feedback on the Peavey board.
Any feedback on these 2 boards is much appreciated!

hi can't tell you about the new peavy stuff but i know some folks are using the yamaha and they like them we used to have one in a radio station i worked at it was a 1st gen with onboard stuff but i personaly wasn't a fan
however most folks liked it you also might want to check out some of the carvin stuff as well as far as the usb feature thats awsome i don't know if carvin puts it in thier boards though but check them out yamaha makes a good solid board as well and if it were me i woulld get a 32 ch board even if you don't use all of them right now you will use them down the road and it gives you some flexability.
one other thing powered vs non powered I perfer to use a non powered board for the simple fact if your board goes out
all you lose is the board and not the amp it gives you more options when it comes to choosing a power amp
the advantage of the powered board is clear compact and less gear to move around just something to consider
take care good luck

hey ritchy, welcome to the audioforums. Both Peavy and Yamaha make decent mixers...Peavey went into a stagnant period for awhile on concept and development, but seem to be coming back used a couple different PV mixers, Yamaha has always made a decent board, but out of all the mixers I have used in over forty years of bands Yammy is only one that went out on me (btw it was powered)
...for the last fifteen years I have been using Soundcraft mixers exclusively. Components are the best choice. 32 channels is a nice idea, but remember that it also requires 32 sources, mic inputs/line ins that's a lot and in some cases is over kill.
I like Carvin speakers alot, never owned a mixer, but have owned an amp, no problems, definitely a step up from Behringer.
Sorry ....not much help...between the PV and Yammy, I'd take a Yammy...my suggestion is Soundcraft or A&H...if you have the bux, go for a Midas, and if you have to use a USB get a Mackie... :) 87'

I have the MG24 variant of this board. Its been a real good one so far. It a bit large for hauling around but it is a very versatile board and I have not even begun to use all the features it has. I also have used the MG32 in a club that has been there for at least two or three years without any problems. Its been used and abused and so far has taken it all well.
If you do get this board, heed the warning on the type of goose neck lamp. Get the right one and be very sure you do.
