Is it possible to hook up my play station 3 to my Klipsch 5.1 ProMedia Ultra system? PS3 only has an optical out jack to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks for the help

bluebarron,

If it has an optical out, it's for audio. Video is traditionally run through coax or more currently, through HDMI. HDMI kills two birds with one stone, however. Hook it up! Better yet, if you're lucky enough to have an HDTV with HDMI in and optical out, run an HDMI from your PS3 to the monitor and an optical from the monitor to your digital-to-analog converter (the thing with the LED display). I have a Logitech 5.1 PC sound system in that exact configuration, looks and sounds great!:)

I used HDMI - now I can view video in 1080i on my LCD. The quality is beyond what I could have ever imagined.

I have the PS3 and have converted to all HDMI connections as my HD connection because it it the only truly digital video connection ( besides DVI).

The PS3 has both the HDMI and Toslink, but I had to set the audio as either HDMI or TOSLINK output. For somereason, it did not allow me to have audio in HDMI and Toslink. Will have to experiment with this...

I have all my HDMI sources connected through a HDMI switch (http://www.octavainc.com/HDMI%20switch%204port_toslink.htm) that has also Toslink switching. This allows me to run my surround sound optical outputs to my older Surround Receiver.
